Are You a Candidate for Dental Bonding?

Posted on 10/25/2015 by Sergio Ortegon
A woman happy with her smile after receiving a dental bonding treatment. Are your teeth cracked or chipped? Do they have unsightly gaps or other aesthetic issues? Do you feel embarrassed by your smile and wish that there was some type of treatment available to improve its appearance? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you might be a candidate for dental bonding.

The process of dental bonding involves applying a tooth-colored resin onto the teeth in order to cover up flaws and imperfections. These resins are extremely durable, and they will be carefully matched so that they look exactly like your natural teeth.

The best candidates for the procedure are people who are in good overall health and don't have any tooth problems that might require restorative work, and you'll also need to have realistic expectations about the results that you can achieve with bonding.

How Can Dental Bonding Improve Your Smile?

If you are interested in dental bonding, consider how the procedure might be able to improve the appearance of your smile:

•  Chipped teeth. Dental bonding is a great option for minor chips on the teeth, as the bonding material can serve as a great mask for minor tooth damage.
•  Cracked teeth. Even small cracks in the teeth can be unsightly, and dental bonding can be used to correct them. This is a great option as long as the crack is fine and superficial.
•  Discoloration and stains. When your teeth are stained, dental bonding can be a good option for hiding the discoloration. You can achieve a whiter, brighter smile without veneers or whitening treatments.
•  Gaps. Many people choose bonding when they have minor gaps in between the teeth. This treatment can be especially helpful for gaps in the front two teeth.

If you have questions about whether you might be a good candidate for bonding or if this treatment is right for you, please contact us for more information.
