Dr. Ortegon is an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Texas and an adjunct professor at the Houston Texas Children's Hospital, Department of Plastic Surgery.
He has received several teaching honors including, the Dean's Teaching Excellence Award in Innovation, and a first place in the poster presentations at the largest dental meeting in Houston.
Dr. Ortegon has been a guest lecturer for the Greater Houston Dental Society (GHDS) on topics such as the "The etiology of worn dentition" and "Abutment selection for dental implants". He has lectured as well for the exclusive Seattle Study Club on topics related to "TMD & Occlusal Guards" and "Full mouth reconstructions.
He has written research articles on attachment systems and clinical reports on obturators and overdenture prostheses. He lectures both locally and internationally on subjects related to his specialty and subspecialty.
Additionally, Dr. Ortegon has published articles in The Journal of Prosthodontics and The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry.
He is an active member of several key dental organizations including: the Greater Houston Dental Society, the Texas Dental Association, and the American Dental Association. He is also a fellow of the American College of Prosthodontics.
Dr. Ortegon is married to Maria Jose and they have a daughter named Sarah. When he is not at work, his hobbies include marathons and triathlons, playing soccer, and generally being active outdoors.
